Q1. What is a Catch the Ace raffle?
Catch the Ace is a raffle with 2 accumulated prizes. One is a weekly prize, which makes up 20% of the weekly sales, and the second is a progressive prize, which makes up 30% of the weekly sales. The remaining 50% of the sales goes to the MLSE Foundation to support kids in sports programs.
Each player has a chance to win both prizes each week!
Q2. How can I win the prizes?
Every week, we will have a weekly prize winner guaranteed! You always win!
Each week, a player can buy raffle numbers and select an available envelope with each purchase. Each raffle number purchased will allow the player to win the weekly prize. If any purchased numbers are selected as the week’s winner, the player automatically wins the accumulated weekly prize. Then, the envelope that the player selected when purchasing the winning number is revealed. If the Ace of Spades is in that envelope, the player also wins the progressive prize!
If the envelope does not contain the Ace of Spades, the Catch the Ace Raffles continues for another week. The progressive prize keeps growing, giving a chance to a new winner to win the
Q3. How is this different than a 50|50 raffle?
Catch the Ace is a progressive raffle that will continue on week segments until the Ace is caught. A 50|50 raffle is a single raffle played on a determined time frame.
It also gives the player to win 2 main prizes instead of 1. The draws are weekly, which keeps the fun going!
Q4. Are my tickets valid for more than one week?
Currently, ticket purchases are restricted to the upcoming weekly draw only. The Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario does not currently allow ticket subscriptions or the acquisition of tickets for multiple weeks.
Q5. Can I select an envelope for each ticket in my order or one envelope for each order?
A single envelope should be selected for each ticket order. If players desire to choose multiple envelopes, they can place multiple ticket orders and select a different envelope each time they purchase.
It's crucial to understand that multiple envelope selections do not enhance your chances of winning either the weekly or progressive prize.
Q6. When are the draws happening?
The draws will occur every Saturday at 5 p.m. from October 21st until the Ace of Spades is caught. Always the same day of the week at the same time.
With or without a Marlies & Raptors 905 game being played.
Q7. When are the MLSE Foundation Catch the Ace Raffle ticket sales deadlines?
Weekly sales will be cut off at 5:00 pm every Saturday. If the Ace of Spades is not revealed during that evening’s draw, sales for the following week will commence right after.
Q8. Is the MLSE Foundation Catch the Ace Raffle managed through a digital platform?
The entire MLSE Foundation Catch the Ace Raffle is conducted through a digital system, a software application that has received the endorsement of the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario. This raffle operates entirely in a paperless manner, including various components such as:
- Ticket sales and distribution
- Virtual envelopes containing playing cards.
- The drawing process and overall management
Q9. What are the odds of winning in the MLSE Foundation Catch the Ace Raffle?
The likelihood of winning a Weekly Prize draw is directly influenced by the volume of tickets in the draw, and there is no cap on the total number of tickets available for purchase. Initially, the odds of drawing the Ace of Spades from the envelopes stand at 1 in 52, but they progressively become more favourable with each subsequent removal of envelopes that do not contain the Ace of Spades.
Q10. How much of the sales go to the MLSE Foundation?
50% of all raffle proceeds.
Q11. Is there a limit on the number of tickets I can buy each time?
The system has a limit of 10 bundles of raffle numbers at a time.
Q12. Can I order a ticket if I do not live in Ontario?
No. Purchasers must be located in the province of Ontario at purchase.
Q13. Why do I have to select one of the remaining digital envelopes?
Within each digital envelope lies a concealed playing card, and the Weekly Prize draw ticket recipient, who successfully picks the envelope with the Ace of Spades, will be the fortunate winner of the Catch the Ace Progressive Jackpot. It's important to note that every ticket order must specify an envelope selection.
Q14. How old do you have to be to purchase?
You must be at least 18 years old at the time of purchase. Tickets cannot be purchased in the name of a minor.
Q15. Is there a guaranteed Progressive Jackpot in this raffle?
Yes. The minimum guaranteed value of the Progressive Jackpot is $500 and this amount will be awarded if the Ace of Spades is revealed.
Q16. Do I win a prize by selecting the same envelope as the Weekly Prize winner?
No. To be a winner, you must have the selected winning number on the weekly draw.
Q17. What happens if I have the same envelope on my ticket as the envelope that had the Ace of Spades?
The holder of the Weekly Prize-winning ticket exclusively qualifies for the opportunity to claim the Catch the Ace Progressive Jackpot. It's worth noting that multiple ticket holders may opt for the same envelope number during any given week when purchasing their tickets.
Q18. What if I purchased my tickets online but haven’t received them yet?
Review your email's junk mail or spam folders for misplaced messages. If found there, mark them as "not junk mail/spam," and subsequent ticket purchases should route to your primary inbox without issue.
It's common for minor typos to slip through during the checkout process, so please ensure the accuracy of your contact information when entering it. If you have not received your tickets within 24 hours, we recommend contacting 5050@mlsefoundation.org to help us retrieve your information and ensure it is sent to the correct address.

MLSE Foundation Catch the Ace Raffle offers the following ticket packages:
- 3 tickets for $10
- 10 tickets for $20
- 50 tickets for $50
